GCSE Results 02.09.10

First of all, welcome back to all staff and pupils for the new academic year.  It is great to see everyone looking so smart and ready to make a good start.

I will be writing to parents early next week to give the final GCSE results, as currently one or two subjects are in the process of being re-evaluated by the board and may be upgraded.  Currently though, our overall figure for 5A*-C grades is 86.0% and the figure including English and Mathematics is 80.7%.  These are very pleasing for a school that is non-selective academically and also when it is bourne in mind that these figures are for academic GCSEs and not the vocational subjects some schools use in their figures.

Under 14s cricket make it to the final! 22.06.10

New arrival - 21.05.10
I was delighted to meet a new addition to Shoreham College today, when Year 6 brought over a beetle for the new “bug hotel” in the eco garden.  Jacob Thompson found the beetle in his garden and Joe Sharp correctly identified it as a cockchafer.  Although it did not stay in the bug hotel for long, as it regained its ability to fly, it laid some eggs before moving on and everyone who saw the beetle was very impressed.
