26th January 2010 - U15 Rugby v St Bede's
Scrum Down

The Under 15 team faced a daunting matching against a very strong and well drilled St Bede’s side. From the outset, St Bede’s dominated at the rucks and created a stable platform from which their scrum half could work to deliver quick ball to the backs.

Shoreham conceded twice early in the match and found getting out of their own half quite difficult. Matt Jackson was frequently required to make solid tackles at Fly half and he shows great promise as a developing player. The Forwards, led from the front by Tom Welch, managed to keep the scrums stable and Stuart Allcock worked well to use his pace on the blind side.

At half time the score was Shoreham College 0 St Bede’s 39.

The second half started much stronger with the Forwards playing with more urgency and providing better ball for the Backs to run with. Getting the ball wide is a priority and it wasn’t long before Taylor Richardson scored our first try. Now that the boys believed that they could turn the match around, Tom Welch scored a further two tries and Harry Bishop and Harry Corton also got grounded the ball over the St Bede’s line. Adding to the points was Matthew Jackson converting one of theses tries.

Sam Risbridger, Dom Kent and Laurence Bown were excellent in both attack and defense showing great determination in the tackles. Without their fitness and strength, the Backs would have found themselves isolated.
