3rd February 2010 - U13 Rugby v St. Christopher's

This Wednesday Shoreham College hosted a historic Under 13 rugby fixture between ourselves and St. Christopher’s.

St. Christopher’s are always a very tough game for us but this year’s Under 13 side showed their strength and determination to overcome the visitors 49-7.

As the match kicked off, the rain was already starting to fall making conditions rather greasy underfoot. From the outset, St. Christopher’s battled hard, with particularly strong play coming from their number 8 and fly half.

Within minutes both sides had conceded a converted try and play had been very evenly balanced with the score 7-7.

Around 10 minutes into the game, Shoreham, following the lead of their captain, Matt Solomon, managed to raise their aggression levels and subsequently their game. From that moment onwards they started to pile on the points.

During the next 30 minutes 42 points were scored with tries coming from Sam Tuhey (1), Matt Solomon (1), Nick Harris (2) and Tom Wedge (2). James Monaghan had a fantastic afternoon with the boot, kicking all 7 conversions.

I was particularly pleased with the way the boys played. If they continue to train hard they have a promising season to look forward to.
