Shoreham College hosted, for the first time, an under 10 rugby development festival to encourage promising rugby players from the college to join local clubs to develop individual skills, as well as positional awareness.

Invited to the event were Brighton RFC, Worthing RFC, Hove RFC and Shoreham RFC.

Dry and sunny conditions Saturday morning was a nice surprise after a week of rain and the groundsman, Nick Milner, did a fantastic job to turn the pitches into mini-Twickenhams.

The format for the event was a round-robin competition where all teams had the opportunity to play each other.  Brighton RFC cleared up with four out of four wins, Worthing RFC came second with Hove RFC and Shoreham College closely behind, Shoreham RFC bringing up the rear.

Although Ollie Edlin, PE teacher, was very impressed with the standard of rugby played by all the boys, he said that the event was not about positions, more importantly links with local clubs has been firmly established and this was the main aim.
