8th February 2011 - U14A&B v Lewes Old Grammar and Newlands

The U 14 a& b netball teams played over at Lewes for a round robin game against Lewes and Newlands this afternoon.

It was great to see the B team have an opportunity to get some match experience. They united very well together, led by Centre Rebecca Tennent, who played outstandingly. Both teams were well matched and as we had not had experience of playing together before, I was most impressed with their motivation to try their best. Emily Schneider, who has recently joined Shoreham was a tremendous shooter, Amelia Kane played her first full match and they all marked superbly. They played two matches against the Lewes sides and both games were a draw of 6-6.

FINAL SCORE – BOTH GAMES DREW 6-6

PLAYER OF THE MATCH – REBECCA TENNENT AND EMILY SCHNEIDER.

The A team had a really tough afternoon and struggled to find their usual team spirit. Whilst again the teams were fairly evenly matched, they were put off by a couple of difficult situations and this caused a crack in their game. However, their first match against Newlands, Charlotte Allcock and Olivia Foley scored some outstanding goals, but in the end we were to be defeated by 2 goals.

FINAL SCORE- SHOREHAM COLLEGE 8 – NEWLANDS 11

PLAYER OF THE MATCH -CHARLOTTE ALLCOCK AND OLIVIA FOLEY

Their second match against Lewes was also difficult, and sadly they could not quite get their momentum going. Georgia Jones was superb in this match, stepping in as centre for the first half then back to wing attack. It was a tough afternoon, but a good learning curve at the same time.

FINAL SCORE- SHOREHAM COLLEGE 8 – NEWLANDS 6

PLAYER OF THE MATCH –GEORGIA JONES
