14th September 2010 - U15 Football v Newlands
A Goal Kick

The first half started well with good possession and shape from the team in attack and defence. Jack Woods and James Harrison, as usual were tight at the back and denied the opposition strikers room to move. Jake Robinson and Ross Ball were as one in midfield and pushed the ball to the wings on several occasions to be crossed in but unfortunately shots on goal were few and far between; at half time the score was nil-nil and.

The second half didn’t quite start as we had imagined and Newlands scored quickly. Again the work rate was very high and I was pleased to see players in key positions linking; Luke White and Callum Ritchie worked the left touch line and Ryan Scott and Ryan Elson worked the right. Andrew Trevis made some super saves in goal and used every body part to keep the ball out, a valiant effort. Play was now more frequent in the Newland’s half and after consistent pressure and shots on goal the Newland’s defence cracked and we were awarded a penalty. Jake Robinson stepped up and hit hard into the back of the net to equalise.

With some changes in positions and shape, Shoreham College continued to apply pressure and play with considerable width and the ball was now being whipped in across the back of the defence for strikers to run onto. Max Gardiner and Max Rummery worked incredibly hard off the ball to find space to attack but to no avail and Shoreham College couldn’t find the net.

Final Score: Shoreham College 1      Newlands 1

Most Valuable Players: Ryan Scott and Jake Robinson

On Tuesday the 21st September we will have our chance to play Newlands again and hopefully we can improve on the score line.
