Lots of smiling parents, children and teachers made for a successful and joyous Open Morning at Shoreham College on Saturday where visitor numbers were the highest since 2004 for the annual January event.
Prospective parents and their children were welcomed by the Headmaster, Mr Taylor-West, and then shown around the school by current pupils. Classrooms were open, teachers available to speak to, subject and sporting demonstrations were enjoyed whilst the tour of the grounds and facilities benefited from the glorious sunshine.
After the tour, a light buffet was served in the Lewis Hall where the Headmaster was available to chat and senior pupils and talented pianists Svante and Anna did a delightful job of entertaining everyone.
Mr Taylor-West, who has just completed his second year at Shoreham was pleased with the turnout and the feedback from the visitors. “It was heart-warming to see such lovely families, smiling and happy, looking around our beautiful school and just knowing how they could fit in and be part of our close community here at the College.” He also commended his staff and current pupils, “I have to thank our pupil tour guides, who give up their time on a Saturday morning to enthuse about our school. They do it readily and with smiles; such a credit to us, they really do make us proud.”
Shoreham College, a coeducational independent day school, has seen record-breaking enquiries and enrolment soar since January 2015. It was ranked third top school in West Sussex in the recently published Telegraph League Tables for 5 A*-C GCSE’s including Maths and English.
