Year Four to Ford

Year 4 recently visited Ford Recycling Plant where they learned what happens to all the Sussex's recycling bin rubbish. They also learned what could be recycled and what cannot. Products made from recycled waste were shown as well the huge bales of cans and plastics ready to be shipped off to be recycled.
Unfortunately, the plant had broken down, but that meant that Year 4 was granted access to parts of the plants usually closed off for safety reason. They were also given a special talk by the plant manager and shown how glass is ground down to a very fine powder to be used in roads.
Everyone had a super day and especially loved wearing the hard hats and reflective jackets. They each took home a recycled bag, which they decorated, and a sharpener and pencil made from recycled plastic and paper.
