SHOREHAM COLLEGE CELEBRATES BEST GCSE RESULTS EVER!
Pupils have achieved the best GCSE results in the history of the school.
98% of Shoreham College pupils gained 5 A*-C grades including English and Mathematics; a remarkable achievement and bucking the national trend of falling grades after the new reforms.
Many individual students excelled, including: Reuben Benkel who achieved grade 9 in Maths, 7 in English Language and 6 A/*As; Anna Braddick who achieved 8s in English Language and Maths and 5A*/As; Isabel Manson who achieved 8s in English Language/Literature and Maths and A*/A in 5 other subjects; Aaron Logsdon who achieved an 8 in Maths and a 7 in English Language along with 6 further A*/A grades; Josh Firsht who achieved a 9 in English Language, an 8 in Literature, 7 in Maths and a further 6A*/As; and Erin Campbell who achieved a fantastic set of results, 9s in English, English Literature and Maths, plus 4A*s and 2As.
Shoreham College is not academically selective so are particularly proud of the results which are testament to the hard work of both pupils and staff.
Mr Taylor-West, Headmaster said:' We could not be more pleased here at Shoreham College. In spite of concerns about new rigour in reformed GCSEs, for example, we have achieved the best ever set of GCSE results in recorded memory. This is straightforwardly about a combination of excellent teaching and pupils who engaged and worked hard. They deserve huge credit. As an inclusive school, serving pupils with a wide range of ability, we were particularly pleased that our stronger pupils achieved 9s, yes, but that many of them achieved beyond what was predicted, some by more than 2 grades, regardless of their starting point. This is the essence of Shoreham College and as Head, I am thrilled.'
