Speech Day Arrangements 15.06.10

 8 June 2010

Dear Parents

ARRANGEMENTS FOR SPEECH DAY – SATURDAY 3 JULY 2010

Speech Day will soon be upon us and I thought it would be helpful to give more detail of the final arrangements.  I look forward to seeing as many parents there as possible. May I start by politely reminding families that Speech Day is a school day and compulsory for pupils from Early Years 2 onwards, although Early Years 1 are of course welcome to come and sit with their parents.

The children are asked to be at the college, wearing their school uniform, for 10.30am in time for an 11.00am start.  Please note the change to the normal start time; we have had to make the decision well in advance in anticipation of England possibly playing in the World Cup quarter final at 3.00pm that afternoon.  Indeed, indications are that even if they were not playing a large number of our pupils would still like to watch the game, so we will experiment this year with a morning format.  Obviously for those of you who are not fans of football you will have the chance to enjoy a much quieter Saturday afternoon shopping or beach experience.

The double gates near to the main entrance will be open so that you can park on the games field.  Children will report to their form teachers for registration and assembling.  Parents are asked to go straight to the Kennedy Sports Centre and the pupils will be brought over by their form teachers and will sit in forms with their teacher.

Parents are asked to limit numbers attending to two adults per family.  We would be grateful if ladies could refrain from wearing stiletto-heeled shoes as they damage the surface of the floor.

The prize-winners will not be told in advance of their success, so we hope that the element of surprise will be a pleasant one for all concerned.  It is anticipated that the prize giving will end at 12:00 when parents are welcome to visit junior classrooms, the Curtis Smith Centre and the art room display.  Refreshments will be served in the Lewis Hall.

Please return the slip below no later than 25 June indicating the number of adult seats you require.  I hope you will enjoy the occasion and look forward to seeing you there.

Yours sincerely
