DCCT Range visit for Year 10 - 12.01.12

SHOREHAM COLLEGE CCF

January 2012

Dear Parent

We have two Year 10 DCCT Range days arranged for this term:

They are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday 4th & 5th February 2012.  We are going to take the cadets on the DCCT Range at Longmoor Camp.  The prime objective is to improve the cadets marksmanship principles.  Pupils will normally only attend on one of the days; I will fill the Saturday first.

They will be travelling by minibus and will be accompanied by WO2 Wilton and myself; 8CTT will be running the range.  All the instruction will take place under the direct supervision of range qualified staff.  All equipment will be supplied.

The minibuses will leave at 08.00hrs and return by 17.00hrs.  If the days are over-subscribed then I will divide each day into a morning and afternoon session, as detailed below, to allow for greater participation.  If this is the case I will fill the morning session first and advise you of any changes to the timings when I have received all the completed returns.

The split sessions, if needed will be as follows:

The first session will depart from College at 08.00hrs and return by 13.15hrs.

The second session will depart from College at 11.45hrs and return by 17.00hrs.

The cadets will need a packed lunch and will be required to wear full CCF uniform, including DPM jacket, with the College track suit top for the journey.

I shall be taking the CCF mobile phone (number 07774 182054) and the cadets can be contacted on this should an emergency arise.

If you are agreeable to your son/daughter attending a field day please return the attached ‘Parent Consent Form’ to me as soon as possible and no later than Thursday 26th January 2012, as I have to go firm on numbers for the range.

Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me at the College.

If your child’s behaviour or attitude should prove unacceptable at any time before the outing, we reserve the right to refuse their taking part in this activity.

Yours sincerely

S. Salih Capt

CONTINGENT COMMANDER

The objective for the day is to improve the cadets’ Marksmanship Principles that they have already learnt.

The activities will be as follows:

  • DCCT range – this is a computer simulated range that allows us to correct any errors that the cadets are making far more easily than on an outdoor range.

The computer analyses all aspects of the shooting and allows us to refine their technique.

No live or blank ammunition will be used in any phase of the training.
