| 23rd January 2008 - Under 13 Rugby v Pennthorpe – HOME |
|
After a long and wet winter, the Under 13 Rugby team finally kicked off the season with a match against Pennthorpe. Our team was a selection of Year 7’s and 8’s who show commitment and talent. Joe Spencer-Smith bravely led his team to battle and after a shaky start going 12 – 0 down we began our attack. Luke Quincey expertly scored the first try and Matt Jackson converted to put Shoreham 5 points behind just after half time. Pennthorpe’s forwards rucked Shoreham off the ball and we spent a long time in our own half desperately holding on but a well drilled Pennthorpe backline took advantage of the width and cruised over the line to put another 5 points on their score. Luke Quincey replied with another try and Matt Jackson once again converted, kicking from the right hand touchline into the wind. Overall, Shoreham College 14, Pennthorpe 22. Man of the Match was Luke Quincey and on the whole a fantastic start to build upon. The team is really looking forward to their next game against Broadwater Manor on Wednesday 30th January and we hope to right our wrongs!
