29th February 2008 - National ISA running competition

A team of 13 students went to Prince Thorpe College, in the West Midlands, to compete against runners from schools all over the country, in the ISA national running competition.

After about 4 hours of travelling we arrived, and after an hour or so, the year 7s and 8s had their races. All six pupils that ran in this age category did their best, with a few finishing, a few dropping out. Well done.

Nearly half an hour later it was the Year 9 and 10 boys’ race. Stuart Nayar and Cameron Harkness were the only people in this race from our school and both managed to finish the race. Stuart finished a well deserved 3rd position, beaten by 2 also very high standard runners, one of them was a tri-athlete from our London South Team. Cameron came in further down the field but his contribution was a valuable one for the team.

The last race of the day, at 2:30, was the Over16 boys’ race. The 5 participants all finished the race, with a range of positions. Cameron Raiman finished in 4th position, one place off receiving a medal. The remaining four of us, Alistair Harmsworth, Matt Scott, Benjamin Hickey and I, contributed nicely towards the team effort.

It was a great day out, and a lot of effort was put forward by the runners, and of course, as usual, Mr Shelley. Thank you. Also,on behalf of the team I would like to thank Mrs. Morgan for helping on the day and Mrs Lyons for her incredible motivation helping us get up the really steep hill, twice!
