5th March 2008 - Under 13 Rugby 7’s Tournament at Windlesham House

U13 Rugby

Today we had a tournament at Windlesham House School. We played four matches altogether, unfortunately we got off to a slow start and lost our first two matches. The first was against Rydon School and we lost 28-5. We also lost against Shrewsbury School.

We soon realised the implications of this situation and with an encouraging talk from the Captain, Luke Quincey, we got a wake up call. We then went on to win our third match against Amesbury School 28-7 with some great tries from Luke Quincey and Matt Jackson.

Now we had re-built our confidence and were raring to go for a win against Warden Park School. They currently had the same amount of points as us, so this was a big game. We went up by a try and got off to a good start. A few crunching tackles here and there and some great plays for us.

We won that match 35-12 in the end which we were delighted with. We made it through the group stages, but couldn’t stay for the play-offs due to the minibus needing to be back in time.

The leading try scorer of the tournament, with a whopping 7, was Luke Quincey. Matt Jackson and Jake Robinson each got 1 and Matt Jackson also scored 7 conversions to top it off. Overall, I think it was a great fixture and the squad were pleased with the results.
