18th March 2008 - Under 15 Rugby V Lancing College

U15 Rugby

An under 15 team turned up to Lancing College looking eager to play some rugby, the pitch was not in perfect condition but would do. Shoreham started off the better team with Ben Board and Ben Bown making a nuisance of themselves in the rucks.

The pack, consisting of Conor Pick, Toby Hordell-Welton, Ben Bown, Ben Board, Max Spencer-Smith, Ishan Patel, Darren Yaxley and Cory Vernon added a competitive edge to the game. The backs were made to work hard to get any success against the opposition with the combination of Matt Edwards, James Ilott and myself linking up well with each other.

The second half started with several changes being made, Fenn Caddick came on for Toby Hordell-Welton and added a bit extra strength to an already strong pack. Darren added himself to the injury list for Shoreham so Adam Pickett volunteered to fill in at flanker and Robbie Whitehead filled in at fullback.

Within a couple of minutes of the restart, Adam Munday had great vision to see James Martin with five yards of space and with a flat ball for James to run onto to score in the corner for Shoreham’s only try of the match. The rest of the second half was a continuous onslaught of attacks from Lancing but with JJ Self and Robbie Whitehead putting in some of the best tackles of the match. The defence held strong with the scrum still giving the platform and making the backs job easier. Well done to everyone. We enjoyed the game, but still have plenty of room for improvement for the next fixture.
