The Under 13 girls were entered into the annual Tag Rugby Tournament at Great Walstead for the fifth year running. We did some training during our lessons and once we got the hang of passing the ball backwards, we were away!!

We set off from Shoreham amidst glorious sunshine, accompanied with Mr Matthias to the Tournament and what a fun afternoon we all had.

Once there, we kitted out with our rugby boots and made our way to our pitches.

We were to play a variety of schools including Handcross Park, Hurstpierpoint, Tavistock, Summerhill and Copthorne.

I was very impressed with the performance of the girls, having pided into 2 two teams known as The Bananas and The Dragonflys! They remembered all that they were taught and their flat line defence was excellent. Their passing took a bit of getting used to, but they got the hang of it very quickly!

Sophie Walls was the highest try scorer from our school. We won, lost and drew a variety of matches. It was a tremendous team building afternoon and I do thank Mr Matthias for his invaluable support in referring as always.

They really did work hard throughout the afternoon, and I was extremely proud of them and their performance. I trust they slept well that night!!

The Squad included SOPHIE WALLS, FREYA MATTHEWS, SOPHIE OCKENDEN, HANNAH PEIRCE, CHISIMBA KABOLE, BECKY SYKES, CHARLOTTE BUSH, ANNABEL JACKSON, HANNAH JACKSON, BETHANY STURGES, KAYLEIGH KNOTT, GRACE WILL, POPPY ROGERS, LEXI PICKETT AND ABBIE BROWN.
