The Under 12 Netball team entered the Under 12 Netball tournament at Lingfield. As they had not played many matches this term, I thought it was a golden opportunity for them to get some practise and work on some team bonding.

They were to play four other schools, of which I discovered that one school had over 44 girls in Year 7 alone to choose from. It was a little daunting to say the least!

However we really put in a tremendous amount of energy and gave the first game the best effort I have seen for some while. Our first match was against Walingham school and we settled into the game very quickly, taking control of the ball and subsequently winning the match.

We then had rather a break before our next match and this made us relax a little. Our next match was against Royal Alexandra Acadamy and we were well down in the first half. In the second half we really stepped up a gear and by the time of the final whistle we had levelled the score 4-4.

Our next two matches against Lingfield and Hawthorns School were really tough and although they worked their hardest, not quite the same level as the first match though, we lost these matches.

Amazingly, Shoreham and two other schools both won one, drew one and lost two in our pool, so it was lovely to come a joint second with the others.

The girls had a great afternoon and I was really proud to their performance, working together and more importantly seeing them support one another throughout the afternoon.
