30th April 2008 - Under 13 Cricket v Lancing Prep

Congratulations to all those involved in the first match of the season. Although strong winds and rain are usually enough to stop a cricket match, we decided that both teams should battle on and brave the elements.

Shoreham College were first to bat and we had two sterling performances from Stuart Allcock and Dominic Kent. These two dominated the opposition bowlers and kept the run rate sticking over steadily making between 10 and 12 runs an over towards the end of their innings. Shoreham College finished up on 91 runs after 20 overs.

Next into bat was Lancing Prep and they failed to score runs on a regular basis. Our opening bowlers Matt Jackson and Jack Woods) pinned them down and gave away very little in wide balls. Josh Hardy, Dom Kent, Cian Brittle, Jake Robinson, Max Horney and John Williams all contributed towards the Shoreham College bowling attack and most picked up wickets.

Unfortunately two players (Luke Quincey and Tom Welch) were unable to have a bat or a bowl. However, they did field enthusiastically when the ball came to them and kept up their spirits in the field.

Again, huge congratulations to the whole team and I look forward to their next match against Sompting Abbotts on Wednesday 14th May.
