| 13th May 2008 - U14 Rounders v Newlands |
|
It was a thrilling game against Newlands and the final score was extremely close at the end. We batted first and there was some good hitting by Heidi, Lucy, Imy and Katie. After our first turn batting we managed a total of 4½ rounders. Then it was our turn to field. Some good bowling by Heidi stopped members of their team getting but they did have a few big hitters (One who distractingly flashed her behind when running, not nice!!). The big hitters meant hard work and throws for the deep fielders, Katie and Imy. After the first innings we were losing 9½ to 4½. This didn’t stop us from trying and our team sprit was better than ever, out batting was fantastic and there was some great performances batting from Lucy, Heidi, Imy and Louisa (Louisa celebrated her rounders by doing a forward roll past 4th post.) After we had finished batting we had a total of 16½ rounders. It was all going to be decided by our fielding. Good fielding and catches from Heidi stopped many from scoring, as did Charlotte H also Charlotte S playing at 1st deep did some good throws. It was a magnificent 2nd innings and after being told the score and getting it checked we knew that we had won the match by just half a rounder, so every half rounder from everyone had counted. It was a wonderful team effort and everyone played well. The final score was Shoreham 16½ Newlands 16. |
