Today 17 boys battled it out on the tennis courts to compete in the LTA’s ‘Road to Wimbledon’ school’s competition. The boys were placed into 4 pools where they were required to play each other to see who would qualify for the knock-out semi final stage.
Daniel Lyons emerged the winner in group 1, beating each of his opponents. Stuart Allcock, seeded 1 in the group, proved to be his toughest opponent, that match was decided on a tie-break at 5-5.
Alex Williams had a comfortable path through to the semi finals only dropping 2 games in the group stage.
Jack Walls made it to the knock-out stage in some style without losing a single game. Well done Jack!
Pool 4 proved to be the toughest group to qualify from. Each boy had to play 4 matches. The last match to be played was a winner takes all thriller between Lloyd and Adam. Both boys had won their first 3 games, so the last game was a must win situation! Lloyd emerged victorious and went through to play Jack in the semi finals.
