Douglas Waite 1946 – 2015

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Douglas Waite. Douglas was born in 1946 and attended the school between 1958 and 1964 and he was in Grenville House. Douglas has always been a staunch supporter of the school and OSA and the photos below were taken at the OSA Cricket Match in 2013 and the OSA Reunion Dinner in 2012.

Douglas died on 4th March and I was privileged to attend his funeral. There were over 100 people at the service – a testament to the special place that Douglas held in the hearts of all who were fortunate to have known him.

Christopher Wynne, an old school friend of Douglas’, recounts:

“Douglas was 2/3 years younger than me and he was in Grenville as I was. He had a nick name of Haggis. Douglas was always a calm and collected person, was a successful solicitor in the Chichester environs, who advised quite a number of Old Shorehamers with their conveyancing and wills etc. I remember playing Cricket for the Old Shorehamers’ with Douglas on many occasions. A very sad loss indeed”.
