| Educational Visits Policy |
|
Unless otherwise stated this College policy includes Early Years and out-of-school care and has been written with safeguarding of all pupils in mind. The College recognises that ‘Educational Visits’ are deemed to be a vital constituent of many areas of the curriculum by providing experiences that enhance classroom learning. Educational visits provide different challenges to the pupils which can develop personal and social skills, as well as contributing to their understanding of the curriculum. Staff who organise an ‘Educational Visit’ are to follow the College guidelines, procedures and risk assessments for ‘Educational Visits’ as found on the College intranet; these are based on the procedures directed by West Sussex County Council; this will ensure that visits are organised with due regard to 'Duty of Care' for the pupils involved. All guidelines, checklists and forms are kept updated and are available on the College Intranet. The Headmaster has the overall responsibility for checking that there is proper supervision and planning; this has been designated to the Educational Visits Co-ordinator. The Governing Body has the responsibility to check the suitability of hazardous, residential or overseas visits. September 2009 To be reviewed September 2010 |
