![]() On possibly the hottest day of the year so far, the school’s junior athletics team were back in action. All charged up after their indoor success earlier on in the year, the Year 6 team were in fine form. In the 150 Metres, William Ballard and Henry Thornton both finished 2nd in their respective heats and qualified for the final where they came joint 5th.
![]() Henry also managed to finish 2nd overall in the Year 6 boys’ long jump with a superb jump of 3.78 Metres. Oliver Davis – Smith and Olivia Watts came 3rd in the Year 6 cricket and rounders ball throw, whilst Finley Bigg romped home in a blistering personal best time of 1 minute 49 seconds in the boys’ 600 Metres. ![]() Other notable performances included a plethora of good results from the Year 4athletes, Lily Simon, in the Girls’ 600 Metres, ran an amazing race and finished 2nd in her heat and 4th overall out of 40 runners. ![]() Zachary Battle-Welch came 2nd in the long jump, whilst Noah Ridgeway-Brown and Hannah Griffiths finished 5th and 3rd respectively in their ball throwing events. Luca Bigg, of Year 3, finished 2nd in the boys’ 600 Metres race in a time that would have seen him place 4th in the Year 6 event!
There was some excellent results in Year 5 too as Samuel Hotston-Tine also finished 2nd in the Boys’ Year 5 600 Metres and Amelia Ritchie threw the rounders ball 28.44 Metres earning her a 3rd place position. Harry Nash and Thomas Corbitt also jumped their way into 4th and 6th place in the long jump and high jump. Lucie Street and Amy Wedge both gave superb performances on the track with 3rd and 1st place finishes in their heats of the 150 Metres. ![]() Congratulations to all our competitors who took part on the day for your fine behaviour and competitive spirit, you were a credit to yourselves and the College.
