12th May 2010 - U11 & U13 Rounders v St Christopher's

The Under 13’s played St Christophers’s at home this afternoon.  The weather was fine at the start of the match, but the grey clouds soon loomed over and it became rather damp in the second half, which was a shame.

The girls won the toss and chose to field.  St Christopher’s had some amazing hitters and the first four girls all scored a rounder! I thought that this was going to be some tough game for our girls.  However after scoring 10 1/2 , we went into bat and they really put their all into their hitting, it’s the best I have seen for some while.  We came away with 9 rounders, I was well impressed!

The second half saw us being really careful with our fielding and trying to keep the score down (if we could) on the St Christopher’s team. Our fielding stepped up a gear and the girls focused well on the ball.  Our deep fielders all had a very busy afternoon to say the least! As the weather was closing in, we shortened the timings on both sides and went into our second bat.  Again we had some fantastic hits, especially from Charlotte Allcock, Elle Anna Smith and Natasha Whitehouse.  All the girls were brilliant and when I realized we had drawn the match, I was utterly thrilled, I am so proud they way the put up such a good game against a very strong team. Well Done to you all.

FINAL SCORE: SHOREHAM COLLEGE 15 ½ - ST CHRISTOPHERS 15 ½

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: CHARLOTTE ALLCOCK (BATTER)

ELLE-ANNA SMITH (FIELDER)

The Under 11’s also had a great match this afternoon against St Christopher’s.  All the girls played well throughout the match, although just occasionally their fielding let them down. (Something to work on girls!)

They all scored many half rounders, although St Christophers made us work hard for them.  The scores were fairly even by the half way stage, so it could have gone either way after that.  The Under 11’s really focused in the second half and this secured their win. Well done to your all.
