25th May 2010 - U14 Cricket v St Andrew's

Congratulations to the Under 14 Cricket team who have won their first match in three games against St Andrew’s.

Jack Woods captained the side brilliantly to an emphatic victory and having elected to bat first after winning the toss the team scored 144 runs in 20 overs. Jack Woods retired on 26 made a solid opening with Max Gardiner until a fine catch at square leg saw the dismissal of Max. James Harrison came into bat next a hit a wonderful boundary straight out of the bat but was caught next ball at mid-on. Thankfully John Williams held his ground and retired on 25 having brought some stability to the innings. Ross Ball hit a colossal 6 straight over the bowler, but like James Harrison, he was out next ball.

At tea Shoreham College were 144 for 6.

Bowling consistent line and length and fielding tightly have been areas for development for the team and their performance was nothing short of outstanding. Jack Woods and James Harrison opened the bowling attack and having spent the morning discussing field placement they took 9 wickets between them; Jack Woods 4 for 4 and James Harrison 5 for 7.

With regards to the fielding, the run out and a stumping by Max Gardiner really showed that this fine team is back on form.

A special thanks to Max Rummery and Andrew Trevis who both stepped in at the last minute and made a tremendous difference with their enthusiasm.
