Senior Co-curricular

Shoreham College is committed to educating the whole person, and our co-curricular programme is central to our provision.

By the time our young people leave us, we hope that they have enjoyed a wide range of experiences and challenges that will help shape them and prepare them for the future. Sports enable our pupils to develop self-discipline, a sense of fairness, and commitment, and as our Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme participants will attest, there is nothing better to develop your sense of humour and resilience than being lost on a windy Sussex Down in the rain with your map upside down: a great challenge!

During their time at Shoreham College, from age 3 until they leave us in Year 11, we introduce our children to a wide variety of experiences through sport, music, drama, our Leadership and Skills initiative, and our activities programme, which runs every evening from 4pm to 5pm.

We vary our after school activities each year to respond to our pupils’ interests. Over the years, pupils have enjoyed Kung Fu, textiles, art, astronomy club, chess club, LAMDA, and cookery. We continue to expand our programme to include outdoor education, woodland, and wildlife.

At Shoreham College, we encourage our pupils to challenge themselves, try new things, and thereby discover aspects of their personalities and qualities that they perhaps did not even know existed. There are terrific educational benefits to be had too, and pupils develop their knowledge and understanding and a diverse range of skills.

Our co-curricular programme allows every pupil at Shoreham College to participate, learn, develop, and have fun. As our school motto states, ‘God gives us the hour’, and we certainly make the most of it!
