Welcome to our Careers Page
At Shoreham College, we encourage every young person to think ambitiously about their future.
From the earliest years through to senior school, pupils are supported to develop curiosity, confidence, and a growing sense of possibility about the pathways open to them.
Pupils begin exploring the world beyond the classroom from a young age. In the Early Years, this may involve meeting members of the local community, such as firefighters, while pupils in Years 5 and 6 are introduced to a range of STEM-related careers. These early experiences are designed to broaden understanding and spark interest, rather than narrow choices.
As pupils move into the senior school, careers education becomes more structured. In Year 7, pupils take part in a dedicated week of Careers Breakfasts, meeting external speakers who share their experiences and routes into work. In Year 8, pupils attend our ‘Get Inspired’ event, designed to broaden horizons at a point when many young people begin to limit their aspirations too early.
In Years 9 and 10, pupils take part in increasingly practical careers experiences. Year 9 pupils attend The BIG Futures Show, East Sussex’s largest employability, skills, and careers event, engaging directly with employers, training providers, and industry professionals. In Year 10, pupils follow a focused two-day programme that includes talks from professionals across a range of sectors, CV development, and mock interviews with personalised feedback.
Alongside these events, pupils benefit from STEM days, university experience visits, and a structured PSHE and Morrisby programme. Together, our careers provision supports pupils to make informed choices, build self-belief, and move forward with confidence into the next stage of their education and beyond.
