Little Lions and Reception visited Southwick Library yesterday. We learned all about library cards and how they allow us to borrow all sorts of amazing books. The children who had a library card were able to have a go using the machine the take a book home. We talked about different types of books and how we look after them. The children then chose books to read either on their own or with friends and we finished with a story from the librarian. It was a wonderful morning celebrating the joy of books!
Last week year 2 watched excitedly, (and sang London's Burning loudly), as Pudding Lane went up in flames!
As part of their topic on the Great Fire of London, they had made a street of houses with which to re-enact the Fire on the College grounds.
We hosted the Inter-House Public Speaking Competition last week and welcomed four guests from outside the school to judge the event. After listening to speeches on freedom of speech, trial by media, social media, and aspirations, Raleigh emerged as the winner. Congratulations to Harrison, Bella, and Jude as the winning team.
Y6 were fabulous taxonomists in their science lesson as they learned about classification. How many of these species survived, do you think, and how many became extinct?
