Our Year 6, 7 and 8 footballers all enjoyed an action-packed afternoon of 6 a-side competition at Lancing College, each team made it out of the group stage and progressed to the semi-finals of their respective knock-out stage. Well done teams.
Year 4s were very excited for their first trip of the year to Bignor Roman Villa.
Dressed up as Romans and Celts they were introduced to the different roles everyone would have led, in the villa.
Our guide showed us mosaics and told us the interesting stories behind them.
We learned how Romans heated their homes and took baths, and we tried grinding grain into flour using a quorn stone - it was hard work! We then wrote our names in beeswax, used our learning in Maths to match the Roman numerals with Arabic numerals, and made mosaic patterns.
Y4 had a blast and can’t wait for the next trip!
NSEA Saturday and everyone performed brilliantly!
Welcome to Isla Y7 and her pony Spotty Maggie who jumped two great rounds while Joshua and Frosty jumped a good clear round, just missing a place in the ribbons.
Well done and congratulations to our swimming team who travelled to the K2 in Crawley for this year’s Independent Schools’ Association’s Regional swimming gala.
Some of the team came away with a top-three finish and a medal. Winning gold, and qualification for the national gala, to be held at the end of November at London’s National Aquatic Centre were: Harry B for the Year 6 boys’ 50m freestyle and butterfly events, Alice J for the 100m breaststroke, and Alex A for the 100m breaststroke.
In the silver medal position were the following swimmers: Scarlett D Year 8, in the 50m girls’ breaststroke and butterfly; Alice J Year 11 for the girls’ 100m backstroke; and Etien H in the Year 8 50m freestyle.
Josh E Year 11, took home a bronze medal and PB in his 100m freestyle event.
There were also good swims from Lily R, in Year 8, who finished 1st in her 50m freestyle heat, Darcey B, our youngest swimmer at the event, in Year 4, finished 2nd in her heat, and Hannah W, who swam a super 50m in the Year 5 girls’ breaststroke.
Shoreham College is very fortunate to have such a lovely Forest School area. Year 6 learned about storing ropes properly before having some free time to explore and play amongst the trees. Millie worked with Mr. Harris, sawing some pieces of wood for a craft project. It was such a lovely morning.
Year 8 D&T pupils are hard at work learning the art of hand sewing as they create the fabric for their very own mini deckchairs! From mastering stitches to watching their designs come to life, each student is discovering the joy of crafting something with their own hands. These unique deckchairs are not only fun but showcase their creativity and new-found skills! Keep an eye out for the final reveal! #HandSewing #CreativeClassroom #CraftingSkills #Year8Projects #MiniDeckchairMagic #LearningThroughMaking
