Under 11 rugby team in action against Farlington.
Well done to the Year 6 rugby team, a fun afternoon of touch rugby. Players of the match, Nancy & Monty.
Year 1 investigated the strength of different materials by building houses for the Three Little Pigs. Each group used either straw, sticks, or bricks. When the ‘wolf’ tried to blow the houses down, the brick house stayed standing. Everyone agreed that bricks were the strongest material.
The U15 girls rugby team had their first match of the season, which was a particularly cold, wet and muddy affair.
The team featured some pupils making their debut, but this did not stop determination to make tackles as well as running forward with the ball. Newman were strong opponents winning the game six tries to two.
A special mention to Lily who led the team superbly by encouraging, coaching and supporting all members.
Year 7 Rugby Opener!
After weeks of battling waterlogged pitches, our Year 7 rugby team finally swapped the mud for the match-day grass this week! They travelled away to Dorset House School for their very first contact fixture, and what a debut it was.
The hard work put in during lessons and activity afternoons was on full display. It was a physical, high-energy game from the first whistle to the last:
• First Half: A tough start saw Shoreham trailing 3-1 at the break.
• The Comeback: Our boys showed incredible grit in the second half, mounting a fantastic comeback to take a 4-3 lead with just minutes on the clock.
• The Finish: In a nail-biting finale, Dorset House crossed the line in the dying seconds to end the game in a 4-4 draw.
A fair result for two very well-matched sides. A huge congratulations to the whole squad for their spirit and sportsmanship.
