Can you surive a Zombie apocolypse? Year 7 pupils were competing with each other to earn the title of the best zombie survival team. The first challenge of the day tested the pupils communication skills - how would they safely make contact with other survivors and people in their own teams without making noise which Zombies are attracted to. Teams had to demonstate their quick learning of both morse code and british sign language to correctly communicate and decode important Zombie survial messages. The second challenge was finding food that would be nutritional, non perishable and store well. A nearby supermarket had been left unlocked. Pupils had to be quick and selecting a food item that met the criteria without being attacked by the Zombies both outside and inside the supermarket. News had reached base camp that a Zombie virus vaccine had been discovered by scientists in a nearby lab. Teams had to first locate their alloocation of vaccine that had been distributed by the scientists in hiding places outside. With limited materials, each team then set to work designing and making a catapult that would be able to launch the vaccine to other suriviors and distribute this to wide area. Unfortunately, some bad news reached base camp that the scavenger team that had been sent out had not returned and unfortunately has been lost to the Zombies. It was important that the right group of people were selected to become the next scavenger team to hunt for supplies such as food and water. The final challenge was set, each team had 30 minutes to find as many items in the hunt as they could in order to be appointed as the next scavenging team. After all of the challenges had been completed, the points were totalled and the winning team won the title of the best zombie surival team. It was a fun day had by pupils and staff and the activities promoted team work, problem solving, resilience, patience and a growth mindset.

Back at school, they channelled their inner entrepreneurs in a Dragon’s Den-style challenge, pitching creative ideas for next year’s charity fundraiser.
The competition was fierce, but only 3 ideas will make it to the final stage. Stay tuned next year to see which brilliant fundraisers come to life!
In KS2 Mindfulness Club we made bunting in Shoreham College House colours for the gazebo in the Junior playground. We had it ready in time for Speech Day.
It was a beautiful summers evening for the Year 11 pupils who gathered at Tottington Manor on Monday to celebrate the end of their time here at the school.
Mrs Bakhtiari said “it was a fitting way to end an era for the class of ’25. Not just a celebration but testament to the hard work and dedication of our Year 11 pupils. It was a moment of pride for us and, as we bid farewell, it is with optimism and excitement for the bright futures ahead of them.”
