Which Witch is Which?!
Down in the forest where fair forest school takes place, a series of supernatural events turned everything foul! Hecate (aka Mrs Moore!) arrived first hovering through ‘the fog and filthy air!’ Not far behind was her twisted, terrible and tatty trio of witches. They cast their spells, gave chilling warnings and danced around their cauldron full of bones, remains of animals and all things unnatural. After her chilling presence had mesmerised and frightened 7B2, they finally vanished into thin air leaving echoes of their cackles behind!
This morning, we held our end-of-term awards assembly, celebrating progress in learning, subject achievements, and our prize draw winners. Well done to all our winners. For those who missed out this time, we hope to see you recognised in our next assembly.
Ancient Greek Day!
To celebrate the conclusion of our "Ancient Greece" unit, Year 4 students arrived at school dressed as Medusa, various gods and goddesses, and other Greek characters. We learned how archaeologists utilise Greek pottery to understand the past, and we crafted our own clay plates. Subsequently, we engaged in a game of Petteia, employing diverse strategies to defeat our opponents by trapping their counters on a game board. We concluded our day by sampling Greek cuisine, including pita bread, tzatziki, fish, and cheese.
Today, Year 6 rounded off their World War 2 Topic with a VE day celebration. The pupils all dressed up and during the day engaged in some classic games and races such as the egg and spoon and sack race. They learnt some world war 2 songs in the music lesson and also were taught the Lindyhop dance. The day ended when Year 6 joined together for a VE tea including jam sandwiches and the appearance of a tin of SPAM! What a great way to finish off the topic.
Edith and Augustus came 1st in the 80/85 NSEA schools show jumping this weekend. Qualifying for the School Championships at Hickstead in August, beating 62 competitors from other schools, well done Edith for putting Shoreham Equestrian Team on the map!
The U13 netball team have had a busy couple of weeks. After competing in the ISA regional tournament they qualified for the national finals in Warwick. The standard was high and offered an opportunity to learn what is needed for the next level in their performance. A solid team effort and a great experience for all.
