Year 8 pupils have been studying Phillip Pullman's novel 'The Ruby in the Smoke' and working out the riddles behind the mysteries in the novel. Pupils in Ms Whitmill's class learned how to tie Turk's head knots as part of unravelling the secrets beyond the location of the ruby.
An amazing effort this week from Amber, August, Darcy, Alice, Emilie, Nell, Elias, Ronnie and Paloma. Well done for all their effort and our Tree of Achievement is looking very full.
It has been wonderful seeing students in Years 7-11 being taught Black History Month learning activities across all subjects this October.
The 2024 Black History Month theme is 'Reclaiming Narratives' and the school's focus has therefore been on lesser-known heroes of black history so that students have learned about a wider variety of inspirational figures than just the most commonly known heroes.
Well done to all the students for engaging with the Black History Month learning activities so positively!
Little Lions and Reception thoroughly enjoyed their end-of-half-term treat of toasting marshmallows in Forest School! It was great to have the fire bowl in action and the children did a great job of using the long skewers to toast their own marshmallows over it. Some even chose to sandwich it in between two biscuits for a delicious smore! Yum, yum!
This year’s senior school play will be Peter Pan - an exciting new adaptation written by the brilliant Mrs Hudson. This will be a large cast production with acting scenes combined with a selection of existing songs from musicals.
Performance dates will be in the last week of the Lent term.
All roles are available to all pupils. We have nothing cast yet and will choose roles depending on the pupil's commitment and effort. All members of the cast will be in the chorus as well as any featured role. If your child wants to be involved you just need to sign them up to the rehearsals which will take place in the 4-5 extra-curricular times.
Rehearsals begin after half term and are on Monday and Wednesday. In order to show your commitment we expect pupils to sign up to both rehearsals.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr Hoggarth or Mrs Hudson.
