Pupil elected member of the West Sussex Youth Cabinet

Rory, Y9, was thrilled to hear this month that he had been democratically elected to represent the young people of West Sussex as part of the Youth Cabinet.

The Youth Cabinet is an elected group of young people, who give a voice on issues affecting their lives. They liaise with decision and policy makers, to ensure young peoples’ views are listened to and acted upon.

Rory has been working with the Youth Cabinet for the past year before standing as a candidate in the bi-annual elections. His manifesto focussed on the environment, which he is passionate about, and this saw him overwhelmingly gain his seat.

Rory also volunteers with St John’s Ambulance and eventually wants to go on to have a career in medicine.

Everyone here at Shoreham College is very proud of Rory who has just attended his first meeting of the Youth Cabinet as an elected member. We wish him luck in what we hope will be a long and rewarding political career
