Year 10 have successfully completed the first of many skills-based DT projects.
These projects are specifically designed to give pupils real, hands-on experience working with a range of equipment, tools, machines, and processes.
Throughout the year, they’ll continue to build their “knowledge box”, which they’ll showcase in Year 11 through their portfolio work, when they design and make their very own product.
In this project, they learned about the manufacturing process of laminating, further developed their skills in soldering, CAD/CAM, and even did a little sewing to keep them on their toes.
Excellent work, Year 10! On to the next exciting project, which will be completed in early January.
Years 10 and 11 visited Brighton Doubletree Hilton Metropole and enjoyed a full day of practical workshops including mocktail making from a mixologist, a housekeeping competition 'who can make a king sized bed the quickest & neatest' towel art, had a talk from the Executive chef and their marketing team and finally, a tour of the hotel including the spa facilities, a £500 a night family room, and the restaurant.
All students were given a goody bag and enjoyed a Hilton signature warm cookie 🍪
Atticus won a prize for the most inspiring student on the day and for making a good impression on the hospitality team.
Year 10 pupils have made an excellent start to their GCSE Art course, diving into the fascinating theme of life and death examining skulls, skeletons and flowers.
