|GCSE Results Summer 2013|
93.4% of Shoreham College pupils gained 5 A*-C grades at GCSE this year and 90.2% achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Mathematics GCSE this year, the best performance at the College since these two key performance measures were introduced.
During a challenging year for education with the Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove making changes to the examination process, and warnings of 'turbulence' in GCSE results from Heads' associations and Ofqual, the teachers at Shoreham College have been focused on working closely with pupils to create confidence and self esteem and ensure that their achievements are recognised.
Jim Stearns, Headmaster said, "Our last independent school inspection told us that our teachers not only have a good knowledge of their subjects, but use them to both challenge and motivate their pupils. It is this motivation that has made it possible for our pupils to succeed so well in their GCSEs". He added "At Shoreham College teachers are not complacent, and these GCSE results prove that the relationship between teachers and pupils succeeds in preparing for examinations and the next stage of their education."
The College is particularly proud of these results, especially as the pupils have a wide range of abilities and only sit full GCSE courses and not equivalents. Well done to all our leavers and their teachers!
